tctractorsJunior Member#23 Not many people interested in Flat Drive work now, I have everything for D2 through D9 in CAT Service tooling and dropping off the edge of the World now age wise, I can near be positive that I would have done more F/Drives than anyone left breathing, I have only done 5 D8H - K this year so it's slowing down, it might be work looking at that Sprocket pulling thread I posted in the Shop heading
Robbo_aussie69JNew Member#24 Gday all, I know this is an old thread but I’m curious how you went with the oil leak. I’m currently swapping out complete track frames off a 05X to a 69J. Upon removing the LH trackframe I was looking closely for a crack of some sorts. I discovered a threaded hole directly above the dead axle, going inside the bevel case. Anyone ever seen this before? The RH side has no hole or no evidence of it being drilled or welded over. Rather odd.
D6 MervNew Member#25 Never ever seen that before and ive pulled my share of 69J to bits and 31X
Robbo_aussie69JNew Member#26 Yes rather odd I thought. Bolt started in hole for visual effect. Probly the least of my issues after dropping middle belly guard to what I thought was a leaking t/c output seal to be leaking around the distributor housing…♂️
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#27 I don't know why but I seem to remember a square headed bolt and a jam nut in that hole on some old dozers
