I didn't catch your earlier thread where you talked about those symptoms in Post #18. But before you tear into the machine, have you taken any pressure readings on the transmission and torque converter? I could be off base here, but it seems like you might be throwing parts at this without really knowing what's wrong.

I didn't do any testing on it. The 3204 engine came out for a rebuild, so it made sense to pull the transmission at the same time and replace the plates and friction discs. The last recorded hours were 9780. After I took the transmission completely apart, the plates and discs looked and measured like new, so they'd clearly been replaced not long ago. The total clutch stack heights are right on spec according to the manual. All the piston rings have zero friction in their bores when I check them on the bench. At this point it seems like the thing to do is address any possible slippage issue before putting it back together, which is why I'm asking about the torque converter. My goal is to eliminate potential problems before reassembly. If that fixes it, great. If not, I'll definitely run the pressure tests like you mentioned.

Does anyone with access to the online database know if CAT has 1T-1541 in stock anywhere? I can't get my local dealer to call me back.
