HD Parts has 1T 1390 listed as the right part number but they can't source it. What are others using as a replacement for this torque converter? SN# 1BA4266, arrangement 7G7600.
D3B Torque converter

BushMikeJunior Member#1 pittsburgh cat manSuper User#2 The torque converter can be rebuilt.
BushMikeJunior Member#3 I've got some pictures here. Is this actually a welded assembly that can't be rebuilt?
NigeLegend#4 I've got the parts list and disassembly instructions.
BushMikeJunior Member#5 My torque converter doesn't look anything like that one.
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#6 Check 1T1546 in the npr.
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#7 Mike might want to check the transmission case for a tag—I've seen that torque spec but can't recall where.
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#8 Try the d3b 23y with part number 1T1045 for that torque converter.
NigeLegend#9 That's the part number you mentioned. What's the serial number of your tractor?
NigeLegend#10 That should do it. D&A has the instructions in the document I shared earlier.
BushMikeJunior Member#11 Sure thing.
BushMikeJunior Member#12 My D3B is SN# 27Y02933
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#13 Looks like they've updated it since yours was made.
BushMikeJunior Member#14 Not sure I follow what you're saying. Is 1T 1021-1 the assembly I'd need to rebuild my TC? Any other parts you'd suggest?
BushMikeJunior Member#15 You're right, I see it now. Mine came off a 23Y model.
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#16 That was the correct part for your 27-year-old transmission—they just switched it over to the number HD Parts mentioned at first.
pittsburgh cat manSuper User#17 What made you decide to pull the transmission in the first place?
BushMikeJunior Member#18 I couldn't spin the tracks in 1st gear, 2nd only pushed weakly, and 3rd barely moved the dozer up a slight incline. I figured the friction discs and plates would be burnt out and shot, but they came back as new and right in spec. I still need to check that orifice like you mentioned. Since the torque converter might be dodgy, I'm planning to swap it out while the engine and transmission are already out for rebuild. Any thoughts?
BushMikeJunior Member#19 I'm looking at the info you shared about the 1T1390 torque converter for the GP transmission. My unit has SN# 1BA1825 and up, and it's got that longer shaft like shown in the cutaway for 1-1825, but the housing isn't rebuildable. Is there documentation available specifically for that serial number range?
BushMikeJunior Member#20 I feel pretty dumb—the 1T 1541 part number was right there in my parts manual the whole time and I somehow missed it. Problem is, HDParts doesn't stock this part number. Does anyone know where I can get one quickly?
