I have shot the parts cannon at this thing too many times. I got a set of gauges and checked pressure on P3 port. According to the manual, pressure should be 20.6MPa. That translates to 3000psi My gauge reads 1800psi at max RPM then as i hit the stops, the relief valve kicks in. I have rebuilt the gear pump but no real change. Can someone tell me what i think is correct. Too much wear in the gear pump and it needs to be replaced. What is the general consensus.?

azvacsJunior Member#1 azvacsJunior Member#2 VIDEO UPDATE. PRESSURE READINGS DURING FUNCTIONS I'm attaching a video of what my pressure gauge is reading during arm lift and bucket curl functions. It is at max rpm. The first two functions are arm lift. Pressure goes to about 1000 then arms hit the end of travel and pressure goes to about 1200. Bucket curl pressure is about 500 then hits the end of travel and goes to 1200...Thoughts?
Simon CSuper User#3 Pressure is always measured at end of travel when it goes over relief, have you tested any of the cylinders for by pass. Post a picture of your cylinders and could make a few suggestions. Handy if you put a number on cylinders close to a fitting for ease of explanation. Use a good paint pen if unable to do on computer. Firing parts gets expensive if wrong part is changed. Better over test than over spend. Simon C

Simon CSuper User#5 Okay, so I am just going to say it" I not so long ago went to a similar problem for a guy who had rebuilt his cylinder and had no lifting problem." He was not on board with me but I forced us to do by-pass test on both his lift cylinders and the one that was leaking a hair externally was fine, the other that was rebuilt was totally done. By-passing 5 liters in 10 seconds. Not saying you did something wrong , just asking if you did a full by-pass test after the repairs? Also noticed in your video that there was pressure on for quite a long time and some pressure on gauge. Was it over-relief the whole time, cause reliefs do wear out. My sugggestion is to post a picture of your hookup for the by-pass test, incase something is incorrect, and might suggest after that start looking at suction filters, hydraulic filters and such. Have seen a problem similiar to yours that a suction screen was partially plugged and causing power problems. Better overtest than one thing missed. Simon C
heymccallSenior Member#6 Has this filter been changed? I've had them actually collapse inward. The element within, not the outer can.

I am not discounting your suggestion at all. I'm not educated on a by-pass test. How is that performed? I did do the cylinders myself but they were the first ones ive ever done so....ALL filters and fluid have been change out with no change on performance. The pressure on the gauge was that i was in lift travel and it was very slow, when pressure increased it was at the end of travel, both arm and bucket.

The lift and curl was was weak before i rebuilt the cylinders and did'nt change after work was done. This has been a issue i've been chasing for a while. New sub valve, removed and flushed self leveling valve, control valve was taken in for service, Gear pump had new seals put in, though it did look a liittle wore but had no way of determining if wear was excessive, some new solenoids and still no improvement

OK, I looked up the by-pass test procedure and i will conduct this test next week and post my findings

One question about your theory about internal bypass, what are the chances that all 4 cylinders are bypassing? Is it possible that i would have these symtoms if just one was?

Likely hood of 2 lift cylinders being both faulty is low, but it is exactly what i had 1 month ago on a farmers tractor, does happen. Thing is a by-pass test costs maybe 5 liters of oil if any comes out, control valve parts or other hydraulic parts gets expensive fast. You can forego those tests, but then if you buy some other parts and find out on lift cylinder was bad along with one tilt cylinder then you have the problems you have. It all depends how clean and cautious you were in the repairs you done. Probably a better likelyhood that a relief or more is stuck, but the suction filter that was posted in picture above has to be ruled out first. If the pump cannot get enough oil, not likely to have big power. Rule it out first and then move on. Simon C

OK, ran the bypass test and there was no bypass on any of the 4 cylinders. Also put an additional test gauge on the gear pump pressure line at the test port just before it goes into the relief valve body and i got the same low pressure readings.

Looking like you might be into a pump problem , but have you checked that suction screen before getting into anything else. Have to look at schematic in case some relief is stuck open is another thought, or get pump bench tested. Simon C
heymccallSenior Member#16 Well, you resealed the gear pump, not rebuilt. Odds are the gear clearances have increased, resulting in lower pressure and or flow. How many hours on the machine, and why did you reseal the pumps?

I think i saved it from the scrap heep.I put new seal in the gear pump to try and fix the weak function issue. Main hydraulic pump is good. Strong travel functions.

Unable to find a shop that will bench test gear pump. I plan on testing direct gear pump pressure today. I made up a test port and guage. I'll update you later
heymccallSenior Member#19 Front half of gear pump assembly is pilot pressure pump. Rear half of gear pump is boom/ bucket/ auxiliary. Travel is via the big tandem variable displacement pump assembly (closest to flywheel). You resealed the gear pump? Did you replace the inner body number "3" shaped seals on the outer of each wear insert?

OK, I built a test port fitting and put it directly off the gear pump on the line that goes to the relief valve body. i capped it and capped fitting going into valve body. I ran engine at max rpm and pump only developed 1100 psi. I dont know what other tests i could do. My determination is that i have a wrn out gear pump. Thoughts?
