I don’t anything about the red trucks. In a past life, I was an ARFF guy at TSAIA. The DOT was phasing out the old P10 and P15’s. They were replaced by the new at the time, Striker 4500’s. Got to spend a bunch of time at Oshkosh in training and performing pre-delivery inspections, one line item at a time. Even went through the entire EVT Certification Commission process to earn the Master ARFF certification. I’ll probably die from all the AFFF foam testing I was involved with.

Wow, I had no idea batteries could be flamethrowers like that. If someone thought they were keeping a safe distance, they might not be. Good to know!!

Watched channel 4 news report St. Louis, truck was CNG. When I worked at Waste Management we had a bunch of CNG trucks, the tanks all had a "lead" plug designed to melt and vent the tanks in case of fire to prevent explosion of the tanks. Looks like some more time should be spent to direct the flame in case of blowout, That's scary as hell for emergency responders. Even before the CNG bombs we were told "In case of fire get truck to empty lot or other safe space and dump load to save the truck" Yeah Right.

Cgn crazy don't have the vent pointing up. Did some dirt work at a lithium battery test site, thermal runaway, shorts, heat & explosion everything that could go wrong for safety & responders.

Leaked like sieves and could not maintain viable. Currently sitting on old YR, truck yard awaiting disposition, been there two years, KMOV trying to Bury the Concern. Similar growth of event here:
