We've got a 289C (SN JMP02686) that the parking brake won't unlock. My local mechanic looked at it and said he thought it could be a simple switch or the ECM. Some threads I've been looking at however also say it could be the left joystick. I have the joystick out (PN 296-0265) and would like to run some diagnostics on it but I can't find any information as to what each pin should read. Any help would be appreciated.

LSSFHoustonNew Member#3 Yes sir, it does.
NigeLegend#4 Excellent. You're in luck. That panel can be used to check both Diagnostic Codes and the signals coming from the joysticks. See the attachment. Get everything regarding the joystick plugged back together again and start with the Active Diagnostic Codes (Mode 0). Basically key ON, press and hold the two outside buttons for 3 seconds and release. That puts you straight into Mode 0. Hopefully at least one code will pop up, so note it down. If it does press the down arrow once and release, see if the system scrolls to second Code. If it does keep noting each Code as they appear and after each one scroll until you get back to the first Code that appeared.
LSSFHoustonNew Member#5 Nige, Many thanks. Turned out to be the joystick. We sent it out for repair to ISOCell in Chicago. Instead of having to buy a new joystick for $4k, we were able to get it fixed for $400.
LSSFHoustonNew Member#6 Maybe you could be of assistance for another issue. When we turn off the equipment it continues to idle and not want to shut down. Eventually it does but I'm certain that's not normal. Any suggestions?

Was the brake disengaged and the machine would not move forward to reverse or what exactly. Just wondering. Simon C

LSSFHoustonNew Member#10 Nige, that would be great if you don't mind. Simon. We did have a code reader, just went through troubleshooting here. Nige was able to give best advice. Initial problem is in our first post.

Post up some contact details please. Do they have a web site, etc, etc.? Check your message inbox for an electrical schematic appropriate to your Serial Number.
