So for those who have a 580B with a similar E brake handle but it has a straight rod like this. If you get the Dorman 924-5617 ( or get just a 924-5617 (no Dorman), you can get the handle on eBay for $18 and it says it fits 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, or workhourse P42, P32). You can disassemble the new handle modify the arm and install it on the original mounting set up for a 580B.

    1. grind off and punch out the rivits that hold the handle on the base of the new handle.
    2. unscrew the new handle so the bent arm drops out
    3. punch out the pin that holds the bent arm to the adjuster part of the handle On the old handle
    4. grind and punch out the rivits that hold the original handle to the body. This is tricky as you have to get a grinding wheel and take out the inside rivit shoulders without damaging the body/frame mount, then punch them out. (See picture above)
    5. unbolt the sides of the triangle pivot piece at the bottom. You need a large screw driver to pry it open enough to get the threaded bolts out of the body without damaging the threads. (Taking apart the handle first helps make it easier to open up the body wide enough to get this out. Now the triangle and the straight arm.
    6. bolt the new curved arm to the end of the old straight arm using a square mark ithe new arm vertically just behind the bolt hole and cut it.
    7. line up the new cut arm with the old arm and mark and cut the old straight arm so the new modified arm will wind up the same length of 6 inches as the old straight arm when your done. Cut the old straight arm.

    1. line the two cut arms, prop them up so they don't wobble or move and weld them togther and clean up the welds. Make sure the bend is this direction and not flipped.
    2. paint the modified arm
    3. wait for it to dry and pin the new adjuster to the end of the arm.
    4. get a new bolt and lock nut long enough to go through the whole body where the handle mounts and get a STEEL sleeve the fits over the bolt but inside larger circle of the new handle where it mounts to the body.

    1. cut the sleeve to fit inside the old handle body/mount so the new arm will pivot on it.
    2. paint up the old body
    3. insert the old triandle bolts back in to the old body in the same position as they came out, bolt it back on and assemble the new handle in the body mount. Make sure the curved modified arm faces away from the body.
    4. once everything is assembled, mount the handle and mark the floor pan where the modified arm hits.cut a 3/4 inch long relief in the floor pan so the modified arm has full range of movement.
    5. twist/adjust the handle so it pulls your brakes and locks in straight up to engage your new Email brakes. Now you have a working E brake on a 580B
