Hi I'm having a problem as titled. How it's started? The engine stalled from Frd 7th gear while returning from worksite. Once the engine was starting to stall, the operator shift the gear to the neutral position but suddenly the engine shut off and also the grader lost control, luckily no major accident happened. What we did? 1.Test the battery voltage 24.2V plus the fuses all OK. 2. Bar the engine, was rotating with little bit resistance. 3. Try to start the engine but only, brief crank and was getting locked. Barring the engine again it's was rotating with resistance. No grinding noise. 4. Removed hydraulic drive universal join, ,remove rocker arms and push rod, injectors as well. Crank the engine with starter motor it rotate. But after reinstalled back the injector and push rod and rockerarms its hesitate again/brief crank only.. Test the solenoid 5 &8 while the key is ON there is only 4.5volts.. Any solution or anyone here encountered similar problem or anyone have knowledge please comment or share your thoughts here.. Thanks

My first suggestion based on the symptoms of how the engine initially stopped would be to remove the engine oil filter and cut it open for inspection. See this VIDEO for the procedure. Please post a machine Serial Number just in case digging for technical information becomes necessary.

Thank you for that. I was looking for the machine Serial Number but anyway I managed to find it from the engine Serial Number - CCA03511.

You welcome..Currently awaiting the tow truck. We will bring it to our workshop and check the engine oil filter..I will update as we progress with our troubleshooting findings.. Thank-you Nige for the support from this forum...

That is quite low , but who knows how long it was cranked. Should be like 25.2 volts if fully charged. You may need to get it charged up before restarting with new filter as Nige had you cut open the dirty one. If the engine was not cranked long then you will need to check the charging system and batteries for a deficiency. Simon C

The oil filter is 750 running hours as mentioned by the owner..it's seems the oil is very dirty..he said the more than 250hrs

That is interesting when the recommended oil/filter change interval is 250 hours. With an engine in good condition I would expect to see that filter media absolutely spotless. Even with an engine that has some wear only 1 or 2 small particles would be considered acceptable. I see an engine repair/overhaul in your future.
