was that the one that the guy stuck his arm out the window as it went over, and he got trapped in cab?

Good looking pictures in this thread. That truck is not familiar on my ear, but I think it looks great.

Nice shots! So on #8, Mack LMSW-L, how wide are the bunks? And the are they the same on the Hayes HD? Ap40

  8. dmills1419New Member#48

Looks like 12' bunks on the Mack, there's about a 2' overhang on each side and the truck is 8' wide.

  9. HDXJunior Member#49

Sorry you guys They are 14 foot bunks The LM's are 9'2 wide across the rear tires . They had 50 Ton Trailers on them NOT the 36 tonners. These trucks were overloaded with just an empty trailer on the back. Old #7 looks good with a Hayes 36 ton trailer because it matches the truck width. Look at some of the head on pictures of #9 I believe back a few posts and you will see how wide the trailer actually was

Elk River Timber's HD Hayes's all came with the 4700-40 rear diffs with 14:00X24 tires These are exactly 11 feet across the rear tires outside to outside

Ray Livingston has lent us some pictures of his early years in the woods at Elk River , he started running loaders around the time grapples were replacing tongs in the mid to late 1950's , here he' running #5 a Lima log loader loading out of what appears to be an early Burger Tower.

camptramp Just gotta ask --In post #52 second picture down Were these taken in the UCONA or the HEBER What is the mountain in the background with snow on it?? There is a couple guys wondering and thought maybe Ray could help them out As for the rest of the pic's with # 14 and #16 were these taken at Camp 10?? Sorry Al Too many questions. There is a pretty good shot of one of the ex Silver Skagit trucks after getting the yarder mounted on her

HDX I'll write them down and ask Ray. Did you notice that #5 Lima loader had a three leg grapple and #4 Lima loader had a scissor grapple on it . Ray said he hated the scissor grapple tried to break it , to tough to break. LOL

HDX I asked Ray about location , he said they were working along Strathcona Park and they were working out of Camp 10 ,but he didn't say which area , and couldn't remember name of the mountain.
