I have a ts14d scraper with a funk transmission. My problem is that the funk is obsolete. Have heard of some guys putting in a Allisson 6 speed airshift. Has any one done that who could give me pointers. Or know any terex dealers thanks in advance for any help

I don’t think the Funk DF150 transmission is obsolete. According to Deere’s website these transmissions are still available through John Deere so I wouldn’t think parts availability is an issue but I don’t know for sure because it has been about 12-13 years since I have worked around any of these machines. Have you checked with a Funk or John Deere Power Systems dealer? What type of trouble are you having? Is your machine a TS-14D or D-II? Due to the short comings of the wiring harnesses and complexity of troubleshooting electrical issues, I did hear of a few of these machines being converted to Allison CLT-3461 that the TS-14B and C used. The air shift was a lot more dependable than the electric shift on the D-G series scrapers and definitely simpler to troubleshoot, if something did go wrong. As far as the transmission itself, I’d say the Funk is just as durable or better than the CLT- 3461, but the Funk is also more expensive to repair / rebuild. If you had all the components to convert your machine, I don’t think it would be terribly hard to do, but it would require welding in all the mounting brackets to the frame, the Funk units were mounted differently than the Allison’s.

The bearing on the input shaft blew up and also wrecked shaft. The shaft would have cost me $7000. Got rebuilt allisson six speed out of the States for $8000 US funds with six month warranty. With the funk i have had a bit of problems getting parts before. My dealer said they are obsolete. I have 2 funk trannys .One needs work or is good for parts and second one works like is should. would anyone know of anybody who would be interested in them.

The versions of the DF150 transmissions are still built today. Deere may or may not be able to get the parts now. Call Centranz in Butler Missouri. They rebuild them all the time............you will need the info on the data plate.

Five grand US for both FOB. But so you are clear, the rear one needs bearing and that output counter shaft. The front one was performing normal. I drained oil on front one after 800 to 1000 hours and it looked perfectly normal. I also have two of those controllers. (the ones under the cab. one for each tranny.) and also a shifter stick.(the one in the cab) If intersted. Never had issue with controllers, but shifter stick i have had to solder on board once. Worked fine after that

I'm interested in the entire package. I'll get back with you after the 30th. I'm waiting on a customer's check to clear. Deere stopped production on those transmissions in 2010. Parts are still available, but pricey. I will go thru both transmissions completely before I consider them safe. What's the best way to get a hold of you?

Tranny pulls till I try to get tires to spin in wich case it just stops pulling. Engine stops labouring. tranny is warm to tuch but bell housing is too warm to touch for a couple seconds

What gear? I'd guess a clutch pack starts slipping under the high torque. Take an oil sample.
