Serial number 3zn00272 Wish I had taken pictures. Had a no start issue with this machine. When I got there this morning I found that the throttle lever wasn't actually moving the shaft on the pump. A lot of the linkage points were pretty stiff so cleaned everything up and lubed everything. Things started to move right but there was a lot of play in the lever before it moved anything so I pulled it off and think something is missing. I was inside this about four years ago but just don't remember if there used to be something there or not. In the lever housing there is a rotating mechanism with an 8 or 9 mm dowel that is meant to engage the lever it the console (part number 6y-0145) but the space where the dowel pin is supposed to run is about one inch long and a half inch high. I am assuming that there is supposed to be something there to take up the space but I didn't find anything like debris or shrapnel in the housing so I am a little confused. The play in the throttle made it so that I could idle up and down but couldn't achieve high rev or get past the detent to actually kill the engine. My marching orders were to get it so it could be started to move it from the job site so I made a plastic insert for the dowel to engage and now I can shut it off and can get about 85% of wot. So if anybody knows or can post a page or two from the parts book, I would appreciate it. Save me driving down to the dealer instead of calling it in in the morning. Oh yeah, less important, but when I pulled the throttle lever off I took out the woodruff key and somehow lost it. I made one so I could reassemble so thats okay. Just another part number for when I go back.

MobilewrenchSenior Member#1 MobilewrenchSenior Member#2 Thanks for the info. I don't see what I am looking for though. But I am working off an assumption that I am missing a piece, I might just be wrong. Really wish I had taken pictures yesterday. I have some pics that I took from one of my d8 manuals, maybe they will help a little.
MobilewrenchSenior Member#3 This is the dowel in the lock plate.
MobilewrenchSenior Member#4 Not the angle that I need. But this is the corresponding shaft that the pin needs to engage (part #33 in the above parts diagram). I'm not sure what this seal (42) is. But that is exactly where I would point if I were talking about the one by half inch hole where the dowel is supposed to engage the shaft.
MobilewrenchSenior Member#5 This is where I would expect to see my hypothetical part.
MobilewrenchSenior Member#6 Maybe I don't really understand how it works. But with the dowel in that large cavity in the shaft I have about 25 degrees of free play in the throttle lever. I know that isn't right. I think I was supposed to have a d8 delivered to my lower work yard today (the service manual pics above are from a D8N) I might just pull the throttle lever and cover off of that and see what that seal (#42) is. At least then I can take a picture of the shaft from a better angle.

MobilewrenchSenior Member#8 Went down to the dealer yesterday and spoke with one of the techs. He also had no idea how the small dowel was supposed to turn the shaft in that huge cavity. But we looked for better pictures in the maintenance manual assembly and disassembly. My imaginary piece isn't there. I did see a directive that the housing bolts are supposed to be tightened until the shaft requires (I think) 105 ft lbs to turn. So my new assumption is that the spring disk (item 31 in the parts diagrams above) has lost its moxie. So when I get back to the machine with new parts I will see if I can get it to work right.
Mechanic1999New Member#9 having pretty much the same issue with one now anyone know the solution too fixing it
MobilewrenchSenior Member#10 Man, that was three years ago. So it isn't really fresh in my mind. If I remember, I did just replace the spring disc and then tightened the housing bolts until the shaft was around 105 foot pounds. As far as I know the client hasn't had the issue since.
