Hey Y'all! New member here. I picked up a 10 ton Miller Tilt-Top, Inc. equipment trailer. It is the dovetail version and not the tilt version. Long story short, it needs new drums badly. The drums are way out of round and the studs are spinning the drum. To make it worse, the studs were heavily welded and are super brittle. I've taken it to multiple trailer shops and scoured the internet trying to find new drums with no luck. I've been quoted astronomical amounts to get drums made or new axles made. Is there anyone on here that could help me find new drums or advise me what to do when they run into obsolete parts issues? Also, does anyone know who Miller sourced their axles, hubs, and drums from? Many thanks in advance!

BigEd5033New Member#1 BigEd5033New Member#2 A little more info... Bearings: Inner: 28995 (ID 2.470 in.) Outer: 25580 (ID 1.750 in.)
Truck ShopSuper User#3 Well for starters--casting numbers off of a drum. But old trailer wheel ends and related parts have been obsoleted in many cases, years back many companies supplied drums, that's been cut to only a few left and if it isn't moveable item it's cut from manufacture. Truth is it will probably be easier to replace both axles with updated. And yes expensive even with used axles.
BigEd5033New Member#4 Cast number is 3062500 Attach is a picture where you can see all of the info cast into the drum.
skyking1Super User#5 Is this a walking axle trailer? We had one and could not keep tires on it. I don't know if that is the right term, but it had stub axles welded to a box with a pivot, independent on each side.
BigEd5033New Member#6 No this one has springs.
BigEd5033New Member#7 I've done some more looking online and may have found some headway, but I need your help... The below hub has the same inner and outer bearing as mine, so I think it will work: 10K Hub, Lift Axles and Trailer Axles, Replaces Dana Spicer A10HU110X, No Bearings Check out the deal on 10K Hub, Lift Axles and Trailer Axles, Replaces Dana Spicer A10HU110X, No Bearings at AnythingTruck.com www.anythingtruck.com The question comes with the brake drum associated with this hub: PTP M12WA115 12.25" x 5.00" Brake Drum Check out the deal on PTP M12WA115 12.25" x 5.00" Brake Drum at AnythingTruck.com www.anythingtruck.com This drum is 12.25" x 5" and my drum is 12.25" x 4". Do y'all think it would work?
heymccallSenior Member#8 $1200 gets a whole axle, loaded, save for wheels.
BigEd5033New Member#9 Hey thanks for the reply... I've gone down this path before. When I called Dexter and gave them the dimensions of my axle, they said it had to be a custom job and quoted me a price of $8,500 for 2 axles and that didn't include shipping. I was told they have to be custom made because the hub face is more narrow than is common and something about the frame rails being closer together.
heymccallSenior Member#10 For starters, Lippert was less expensive and easier to deal with than Dexter. They did have a 2 month turnaround, but that was on a custom length that I ordered.
BigEd5033New Member#11 I can give Lippert a look. Never considered them before. All of the trailer shops around my area seem to be associated with Dexter.
