So we have a mill that raises the hood just fine but when you go to put it down it still tries to raise. we have replaced the switch, checked the selonoids that are associated with the hood raising and cant find anything. one thing thats weird and that stands out is there is a red wire connected on the back of the switch along with two blue wires. we undid the red wire and functioned the switch and for some reason while it is disconnected there is still power going to it. im not sure how exactly its supposed to be hooked up or maybe theres a break in the wire somewhere im not sure. any help is much appreciated thank you

Model and serial number? Pics of what you are looking at would help greatly.

Wirtgen changes everything about every 8-10 serial numbers so, yeah, model and serial for starts then its German wiring schematics which sucks on it's own.

I will search like hell to find all that info when i get in tomorrow. 0522 0249 is what i found so far. but im sure theres gotta be a number somewhere else on the machine

No, that's it. Painted red embossed on the frame?

I will take a peek in the morning, see what I can find as far as diagrams or schematics.

That would be awesome sir thank you! It’s got me stumped at this point. Like it’ll lower when you open the valve up top and the one next to the belts slowly but that switch just won’t function it down. Up and down make it go up

What’s the easiest way to read the electrical schematic?

  10. funwithfuelSenior Member#11

Power comes in at the top and seeks ground at the bottom

  11. Anthony93Junior Member#12

K hopefully I’ll be able to figure out something now. Thank you sir.

what do all the letters mean? sorry im not very inclined when it comes to reading the schematic. the parts one is fine just cant seem to understand the electrical side of it

There may be a problem with the wiring or a short circuit causing the hood to still try to raise when you try to put it down. It's good that you tried disconnecting the red wire, but it's strange that there is still power going to it. It might be a good idea to check the wiring more closely and see if there is a break or issue with the connections. If you're still having trouble, it might be best to consult a professional for further assistance. Good luck!
