I have a Mitsubishi D04FD TAA engine and I had some dirty fuel filters that were changed and could never get the engine to start on its own again. Replaced filters, fuel lines, copper washers, and injection pump. The injectors were replaced less than a year ago along with the injection pump on a recall. I am not getting any codes and the ECM seems to be working as the green light is on and according to the book that green light is a good thing. When I prime the hand pump from the tank I build up pressure, but she wont start. If I use a starting aid it will try to start, but that's about it. I am really in bad shape over this and any help would mean the world...

It appears that Hyundai sold something they can't repair. I've had four mechanics work on it with no luck. None of them have been able to communicate with the software. Broken down for over a year!
uffexJunior Member#3 Good day We have several incidence of the same problem with low emission engines in most case's the replacement of injectors and or pump resolved the issue. These components are very easily damaged by water and dirty fuel no matter how new the fitment. Kind regards Uffex

Dorso78New Member#5 Hi guys I have one of these with the same issue. New injectors new pump new filters fuel to pump. On crank fuel pressure hits 30000kpa and then drops off it doesn’t even sound like it wants to start. Any of you guys have any luck or ideas? Cheers.

Click to expand... I have a Hyundai 160 lc7a with the Mitsubishi D04FD-TAA in it. Recently, my machine shut down with no fore warning. Everything pointed to the high pressure fuel solenoid on the injection pump being bad. Note Something I learned from this breakdown is that the Mitsubishi engines are a Caterpillar painted black. You cant get just the solenoid So I ordered a reman injection pump from CAT, and put it on. No dice! After further inspection with a Caterpillar diagnostic computer, we found that there was no pressure at the fuel rail sensor and that was not engaging the sensor to let the fuel rail receive fuel. --There has to be 250 lbs of pressure at your fuel rail to engage your fuel rail sensor so the fuel rail sensor can tell the high pressure solenoid to send fuel to it.-- The mechanic put a resistor on the fuel rail sensor to trick it into thinking that there was 350lbs of pressure and then the fuel rail started receiving fuel. Long story short, it may be your fuel rail sensor. Go to CAT, and order part numbers 2380118 (sensor) and 2964631 (washer). Best of luck!

Kyle HelmkeJunior Member#10 For those of you who have installed new fuel pumps, if they have the electronic solenoids on them that pump has to be timed or it will not start. There is a camshaft sensor in the pump itself. Also check the engine harness connector I've seen several fail and the pins push out the back

mixalosNew Member#12 Sorry for having again this topic alive but i deal with the same problem....same engine same symptoms....is anybody knows what resistor needs to trick the high pressure rail sensor to start the engine???
