Helps cut down on segregation and stops in the paving process while waiting on trucks as well as rough spots from "truck bumps" against the paver. They really are essential in producing a high quality uniform mat. Keeps the pager moving without ever bumping it which is the key to a smooth mat over a distance. True no matter what the brand but Roadtec was a pioneer in this type vehicle.

Ahmen I set atop a 2500b for days on end now it seems everyone has an mtv to sell but Roadtec was the pioneer Dr. Don Brock is a pioneer in just about everything with an emphasis on asphalt plants he has produced the first coal fired asphalt plant and the first green asphalt plant with foaming asphalt for warm mix asphalt- no blue smoke. I have met him and he is just about the most down to earth billionaire you will ever meet so hats off to Dr. Brock and all the Astec companies

I have around 1000 hrs on a 2500D. They are a very good piece of equipment and can be used for other things besides mainline paving operations.

How about loading a sidewalk paver

We use ours for feeding the sidewalk spreader all the time. It works well with a good operator.
